Shikellamy State Park – Marina Building & Site Improvements
Project Overview
Honor Engineer Company provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and permitting services for the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the Shikellamy State Park Marina Building and surrounding site improvements. The project modernizes aging park infrastructure damaged by repeated storm and flood events while enhancing functionality for public use, including concessions, boat rentals, event space, and public amenities.
Key Challenges & Solutions
The project required balancing resilient design with long-term maintainability and operational efficiency for park staff. Honor supported site redevelopment including reconfigured access, improved wayfinding, and ADA-accessible pedestrian routes to enhance circulation and usability throughout the marina area.
Additional improvements include utility upgrades, vendor support infrastructure, EV charging stations, and development of a new materials storage facility. Design solutions focused on durable, cost-effective systems and non-proprietary technologies to reduce long-term maintenance and simplify operations.
