Schuylkill River Interceptor – System Improvements
Project Overview
Honor Engineer Company provided design and permitting services for the Schuylkill River Interceptor System Improvements, supporting upgrades to sanitary sewer infrastructure associated with the utility company’s acquisition of the Exeter Township system. The project includes replacement and rehabilitation of major interceptor and trunk lines conveying wastewater to the treatment plant.
Key Challenges & Solutions
The project involves the design of approximately 25,000 linear feet of 18- to 48-inch sanitary sewer lines and nearly 100 manholes across a mix of public and private rights-of-way. The alignment requires coordination through environmentally sensitive areas, including stream crossings, a public park, railroad corridors, and highway crossings.
Honor designed the system to minimize impacts to existing utilities and infrastructure while supporting permitting efforts with PennDOT, local municipalities, and environmental agencies. Survey support and coordination were used to facilitate permanent and temporary easement acquisition required for construction.
