Perry Point VAMC – Sewer Investigation
Project Overview
Honor Engineer Company served as the prime consultant for a comprehensive inflow and infiltration (I&I) investigation of the sanitary sewer system at the Perry Point VA Medical Campus. The project involved evaluating approximately 365 acres of campus infrastructure, including nearly two miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline, to identify sources of stormwater intrusion and cross-connections between the sanitary sewer and stormwater systems.
Key Challenges & Solutions
The investigation required coordination of multiple assessment methodologies across an active medical campus to accurately identify deficiencies within the sewer network. Honor deployed wet weather investigations, flow monitoring, CCTV inspection, and ground penetrating radar (GPR) to evaluate sanitary sewer assets and locate potential stormwater interconnections.
Honor inspected and documented existing manholes, pipelines, and associated infrastructure while developing CAD and GIS datasets depicting campus utility systems and identified defects. The resulting analysis and mapping provided the VA with critical data to support future rehabilitation planning and infrastructure improvements.
