Sanitary Sewer Evaluation & Rehabilitation Design - Hampton VAMC
Project Overview
Honor Engineer Company served as the prime consultant for the evaluation and rehabilitation design of the sanitary sewer system at the 88-acre Hampton VA Medical Center campus. The project builds upon previous subsurface utility engineering, surveying, GIS, aerial photography, LiDAR acquisition, and base mapping completed by Honor to support a comprehensive facility-wide sanitary sewer evaluation.
Key Challenges & Solutions
The objective of the evaluation is to identify and remediate sources of inflow and infiltration (I&I) within the campus sewer network. Honor analyzed historic mapping, prior condition assessment reports, and newly collected field data to reconcile discrepancies and establish accurate system documentation.
Design solutions include replacement of deteriorated sewer segments, pipe rehabilitation through lining where infiltration was identified, and manhole upgrades to reduce stormwater intrusion. Honor is also providing supplemental surveying services to support design development and ensure coordination with existing utilities and infrastructure.
