ALCOSAN CSO Bypass & Disinfection Project
Project Overview
Honor Engineer Company is providing civil engineering services for the ALCOSAN CSO Bypass and Disinfection Project at the Woods Run Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project supports compliance with a federal consent decree by expanding treatment capacity to handle high-flow storm events, including disinfection of up to 305 MGD and wet-weather capacity improvements up to 600 MGD.
Key Challenges & Solutions
This multi-phase project involves complex coordination across multiple engineering disciplines, consultants, and contractors within an active wastewater treatment facility. The design includes a new combined sewer overflow (CSO) bypass system, influent conveyance modifications, upgrades to existing chlorine contact tanks, and a new chemical storage and feed building.
Honor served as the lead civil engineer to the prime A/E, responsible for site planning, layout, and ensuring constructability of design elements. Honor also supported technical review of design documents and development of front-end and technical specifications for bidding and construction phases.
